Courses in Jewelry Making and Metalsmithing
The well-equipped workshop is small but efficient and has room for six people. Please note that certain courses can only be booked via the Volkshochschule VHSBB, the local Community College, while the rest can only be booked directly through me.
Course language is normally German, especially for the VHSBB courses. I can always accommodate for English speakers (teaching bi-lingually). Contact me if you are interested in courses taught in English.
Course 0
An Introduction to the Craft of Goldsmithing
(VHSBB Course Goldschmieden – Einblick in ein schwindendes Handwerk)
What makes gold so unique? Learn about the materials and techniques of metalsmiths, who have been developing their craft for hundreds of years. This guided tour takes you through a goldsmith’s workshop where you get the chance to see how gold and silver are melted, alloyed and soldered, how fine gold threads are made, and what stone setting is all about.
The course is a total of four hours.

Course 1
Jewelry Making and Metalsmithing – Beginners’ Course
(VHSBB Course Schmuckgestalten und Goldschmieden – Einstiegskurs)
Make your own piece of silver jewelry. You will learn an overlay-technique, which includes sawing, filing, drilling, and soldering.
This course is 12.5 hours.

Course 2
Jewelry Making and Metalsmithing – Continuing Course
(VHSBB Course Schmuckgestalten und Goldschmieden – Erweiterungskurs)
You already have some metalsmithing experience (for example: you’ve taken an introductory course) and would like to dive deeper into the craft. Develop new pieces of jewelry, always depending on your abilities, which you continue to expand. I regularly offer new impulses.
The open studio is about twice per month. You sign up and pay in advance for the time slots you want to join.

Course 3
Making Your Own Wedding Bands
The workshop and goldsmith at your disposal for a whole weekend! Together we will design simple rings, deciding on size, material, shape, and surface structure. Then it’s time try your hand at sawing, filing, bending, soldering, and finishing… You will receive step-by-step instructions and guidance from design to finish, always taking into account your abilities, know-how, and stamina.
A first meeting takes place in advance. Material costs are calculated depending on size and weight of the rings. Additionally there is a daily flat rate price for my instruction and use of the workshop.
